Feasibility Studies
Hybrid Generation

Green, reliable, and affordable energy is one of the sustainable drivers solving the energy needs of touristic investments, all around the world. In more remote islands such as the Boavista Island in Cabo Verde this is of special importance.

WinPower developed the technical and economic feasibility studies for a new Hybrid, Thermal & PV, Power Plant. These studies combined the need for reliable, stable, and affordable energy, together with local climate and island existing infrastructures, required for the foreseen upcoming tourist investment of the Porto Santa Monica Resort.

Our Solution

Technical and Economic Feasibility Study of three possible configurations for a new Hybrid, PV, and Thermal Power Plant. The studies performed took into consideration:

  • Need for scalable per stage solutions to match the six installation phases of construction of the projects, as well as their typology and the type of energy consumption
  • Typical energy consumption hourly profiles for this type of application in annual evaluation (considering the derating of eligible variables of the project with the foreseen capacity per stage and other important parameters)
  • Cost/benefit perspective with several possible configurations for the future expansion of the Hybrid Power Plant in an investment horizon of 10, 15 and 20 years. The configurations were simulated considering the mix of PV energy with generators operating either in HFO 180 (750 & 1.000 rpm) or Diesel (1.500 rpm).
