The project “CETA – Centrais Térmicas de Angola” was an effort by the government of Angola to enhance power generating capacity, reliability, and efficiency in the country’s development. The Power Plants were installed to cover the energy demand of six cities: Luanda, Benguela, Lubango, Huambo, Ondjiva, and Dundo.
WinPower designed and built seven Power Plants in Angola with a total power installed of 190 MW. The design of these Power Plants was named “Boost System”, a solution developed by WinPower’s engineering team. It is based on a modular layout, improving execution time and installation quality. All Power Plants were implemented simultaneously and started operating within 18 months.
On this project were installed:
The control system was prepared for load demand / baseload and load sharing, operating as a base Power Plant to the local grid. This ensured three essential facts:
WinPower also provided training to all local teams, enabling them to operate the Power Plants autonomously and to manage the O&M of mechanical and electrical systems.
