Fuel Waste Recovery System

The requalification of the Palmeira Power Plant in Sal Island, Cabo Verde, represented one of the most critical settings of the program for the recovery of generation and distribution assets in Cabo Verde.

This facility had critical operational problems, namely the inoperability of the generators sets above 1200 kW and only at baseload, as well as the waste of about 600 liters per day of “clean” Heavy Fuel Oil due to non-utilization of unburned fuel.

Our Solution

WinPower scope of works included the design, supply, and install the Fuel-Waste Recovery System, including new electromechanical systems and SCADA upgrade for increase power generation and efficiency.

The Results

A new fuel waste recovery system and Power Plant’s automation upgrade. The system capacity was improved (total of 4,8 MW) by recovered power generation of each genset to full capacity (100% load) and operation at load-demand, reliability (no blackouts) and efficiency of local energy supply. Our client recovered up to 600 liters/day of usable fuel, representing a significant increase of plant efficiency.
