On World Environment Day, marked on May 5, WinPower, S.A. highlights the work of its teams on the ground, who play a key role in turning the energy transition into a concrete, safe and responsible reality.
As part of the 26 MW Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project, currently under development across four islands in Cabo Verde, in partnership with Cabeólica, WinPower’s teams are actively involved in delivering solutions that strengthen the integration of clean energy into the national power system. This project represents an important step not only for WinPower, but also towards building a more resilient and environmentally responsible national grid.

The technical visits carried out during this month confirmed that, despite existing Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) structural challenges, the work is being developed alongside highly engaged, proactive and responsible teams. Among the positive practices observed were:
- effective waste management and material reuse;
- strong safety practices adopted by contractors;
- ongoing training and awareness on safety and environmental protection;
- continuous dialogue with local workers and stakeholders;
- openness to growth and continuous improvement.
WinPower believes that progress does not happen in isolation. It is built through commitment, collaboration and care, applied consistently across people and projects. Marking World Environment Day is also an opportunity to reaffirm WinPower’s commitment to continuous improvement and positive local impact, one person and one project at a time.
